You see something enough times and your mind starts getting its own ideas. You don’t want your mind to take over. You want your brain to stay firmly planted in the present, in reality; you hate it when it wanders off into a mind of its own and becomes that mind. You want it to plainly process the information your eyes pass on and for it to focus on the task at hand. You want to drive safely. You brain tells itself to stay disciplined and not be distracted. And yet your head turns. Your mind wanders. It points your … Continue reading Food Truck: Eat Chicken Wraps
Chipotle – I don’t remember Chipotle’s logo looking like this. The burgundy/red background with the scribbled chili and rather ordinary font…is this the same sanitized-Mexican-ish chain that I used to visit so that I could sneak a burrito into the cineplex? Apparently it is. I can’t say that I am as passionate about the food at Chipotle as a lot of the people eating there. The lineups that I saw there at lunch today was in line with the queues I’ve encountered at their location next to the southern California cineplex that I used to frequent. I’ve always had to … Continue reading At The Movies Or With Unsweetened Iced Tea
Tacofino – With such a thriving local food truck (cart) scene, I kinda feel bad for not trying more of them out. I think I’ve only ever tried food from one local food truck (not taking into account the ubiquitous Japadog) -Ursu – and I don’t even think it is in operation anymore. In an effort to delve deeper into the local food scene, I’m going to at least try out one of them a week. I started with Tacofino, whose truck on Howe just so happened to be in its last two days of operations when I visited it last … Continue reading Food Trucks: Tacofino (the right kind of fusion)
La Taqueria – I have been craving Mexican food for quite some time, so I decided to grab some tacos from La Taqueria for dinner on my way home today. I called to ask my wife if she wanted some tacos and she declined, saying that she was trying to control her caloric intake after a big lunch. I knew that the kids did not like tacos so they would most likely not want anything from La Taqueria, but I asked just in case…They didn’t want any. I was kinda hoping that either my kids or my wife would want … Continue reading I’ll Have All Nine, Please!
Day 25 – Chronic Tacos… A few years ago, while I was still in Southern California, I remember getting a particular piece of mail from the local car dealership that sold me and my wife our two cars. It included a voucher for two free fish tacos from Chronic Tacos. I had never heard of the place but it was apparently a local taco joint popular enough to warrant being chosen as a cross-promotion partner for North America’s highest-volume dealership of this German automobile manufacturer. I was intrigued for about a minute or two but wasn’t interested enough to even … Continue reading A taste of Mexico…or is it Southern California?
